Indiana has run a competitive, multi-operator mobile sports betting market since October 3, 2019, when the first apps launched under HEA 1015 (2019). The Indiana Gaming Commission regulates a healthy roster of online sportsbooks — DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, Caesars, BetRivers, Fanatics, ESPN BET, and others — each tethered to one of the state's commercial casinos or racinos. Bettors must be 21+ and physically located in Indiana, and the market routinely ranks among the top ten in US handle.
Beyond sports betting, Indiana has 13 commercial casinos and racinos offering full slots and table games (riverboats and land-based facilities across Gary, Hammond, East Chicago, Michigan City, French Lick, Evansville, and elsewhere), the Hoosier Lottery with draw and scratch games, two Class III tribal casinos operated by the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi (Four Winds South Bend), and pari-mutuel horse racing. DFS is explicitly legal and regulated. There is no legal online casino — iGaming bills (most recently HB 1536 in 2024) have failed to advance, largely over concerns about cannibalizing brick-and-mortar revenue.
For 2026, the major question is whether iGaming legalization finally clears the legislature; Rep. Ethan Manning has said he plans to reintroduce a framework, and revenue pressure may build support. The Indiana Council on Problem Gambling helpline is 1-800-994-8448.
